Asheka Carese Minvera Culmer

"Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.”

Henry Ward Beecher

Asheka Carese Minvera Culmer: On December 21, 1983 a baby girl was born in Prince Margaret Hospital in Nassau, Bahamas to Sheila and the late Sammy Culmer. Born to become somebody, born to be respected as a unique individual, born to love her family and others, born without sin, and born as a child of God.

I am the baby of five siblings my brother Donny and three sisters Vanta (Miko), Tami and Samantha. My family plays and important role in my life; they are the backbone and the foundation of who I am today.

Asheka means portraying inspirational, romantic, and dramatic qualities. Hence, I have a clever, deep mind and the talent to excel in highly inspirational lines as a dramatist or an artist. I am lifted by beauty in all my forms and I am most creative when inspired. My expressive, affectionate nature responds quickly through my feelings, but I must guard against being positive and envious.
Carese is my appearance: meaning beautiful. Minerva meaning goddess of wisdom is instilled in my and my surname Culmer was once a slave name. My name is unique. My name is me, beautiful, creative, intelligent and artistic and waiting to be discovered.

It all started at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Primary School in Nassau, Bahamas, at the tender age of 4. This brave little girl entered the doors of learning. My favorite classes in primary school were Mathematics and Art earning many awards in these disciplines. I graduated in the year 1995, and then continued on my education road at St. Augustine’s College (SAC). At SAC I was involved in many extra curricula activities such as Track, Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Captain the Cheerleading Squad and a member of the Math Club just to name a few. I also received many awards in Mathematics and in the Arts. I graduated from High School in the year 2001. The struggle that I faced after high school made me open my eyes and really focus on life, because you only live once. However not going straight to college helped me to appreciate the opportunity even more.

I started LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) in Memphis, Tennessee in the Spring of 2004 pursuing a Bachelors in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics was joyous ride. At Lemoyne Owen College, I held the 2nd Vice President position of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Student Tutorial, Advisory Committee, Student Leadership, Resident Assistant of 3yrs, Student Activities Council and the International Students’ Association. Now I can proudly say that I am an alumnus of LOC Class of 2007. Without question, the knowledge gained at LOC will allow me to explore many aspects of the technology spectrum as well as equip me to better handle the challenges that lie ahead in this cutting edge society. Success is my ultimate goal and I am determined and patient enough to endure the ride.

My dream, my desire, my intension is to be an architect with an aim to create my own architectural and interior design firm. Added to this, is to obtain, my real estate license that will allow me to promote and develop my architectural ideas. Being an entrepreneur in the architectual arena, allows me to develop the ability to lead effectively in my artistic and architectural practice as I would have the passion to succeed. My aspiration, imagination and creativity, my passion for integration, my trusting competency, love for and knowledge of, my openness to new and different ideas, my collaborative spirit, flexibility and responsiveness to face change, cultural sensitivity and my continuous willingness to learn, - are all essential constituents of my ultimate success.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13
